Red Bandanna Leadership Fellows is a semester-long program for 19 upper class students to reflect on the life and legacy of Welles Crowther and to consider Welles’ example in the context of their own ·ÛºìÅ®ÀÉ experiences of leadership and formation.
Program Details
Mission
Inspired by the life of Welles Crowther and rooted in ·ÛºìÅ®ÀÉ’s Jesuit tradition, the Red Bandanna Leadership Fellows program encourages authentic and courageous leadership development through practices of active listening, self-reflection, and relationship-centered engagement.
Format
The program begins with a day-long retreat with Alison Crowther, considering the ideas of vocation and purpose. The students meet four more times in September and October to discuss themes of leadership. Finally, in small groups, the fellows will develop and execute leadership action projects for the ·ÛºìÅ®ÀÉ community or the community at-large.
Learning Outcomes
As a result of participating in the program, Fellows will be able to:·    Â
- Define what the themes of commitment, courage, and community mean to them in their daily lives and to who they are as leaders. Â
- Practice self-reflection to turn their experiences into personal growth, ensuring they lead others with authenticity and purpose.
- Implement a culminating group action project that effectively shares Welles Crowther's legacy, articulates their own personal leadership growth, and invites the broader community into meaningful conversation.
Participants
Rising juniors and seniors, nominated by faculty/staff or peers, are eligible to apply. Students should be current leaders or aspiring leaders, including students who would enjoy exploring their leadership development in relation to Welles’ life and legacy
